In the almost 100-year history of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ highest award, the Oscar, only three men have won three and no man has won four. (The only winner of four Oscars was Katharine Hepburn.) Many men have won two, but winning three or more is quite rare. While some of the films for which they won their awards have withstood the test of time better than others, the extraordinary accomplishments of these three men cannot be overstated.
